		<description>I tried setting up Sendmail with SMTP-AUTH - does not seem a walk in the park.

Sorry to say (and this is not normally me) but I gave up after wasting a lot of time on it.

We only wanted access for about a few users so signed up with &lt;a href="http://www.AuthSMTP.com" rel="nofollow"&gt;http://www.AuthSMTP.com&lt;/a&gt; - it works and no hassle! 

Obviously if you want a load of accounts it may be cheaper to do it yourself but with updates etc. this was a far cheaper option!
