Sendmail with SMTP AUTH

Falko Timme has posted a handy Sendmail-SMTP-AUTH-TLS-Howto. I trues setting all of this up a while back, and eventually got SMTP AUTH working, but this explains it all in a nutshell.

This document describes how to install a mail server based on sendmail that is capable of SMTP-AUTH and TLS. It should work (maybe with slight changes concerning paths etc.) on all *nix operating systems. I tested it on Debian Woody so far.

I tried setting up Sendmail with SMTP-AUTH - does not seem a walk in the park.

Sorry to say (and this is not normally me) but I gave up after wasting a lot of time on it.

We only wanted access for about a few users so signed up with http://www.AuthSMTP.com - it works and no hassle!

Obviously if you want a load of accounts it may be cheaper to do it yourself but with updates etc. this was a far cheaper option!
