CIO Magazine talks about Open Source

Via /., CIO Magazine has an article looking at Open Source, and Linux. Your Opensource Plan discusses the cost savings and benefits that can be acheived by moving to Linux at verious levels.

Once a toy for geeks, open source is slowly but surely filtering into the enterprise and transforming the way software is designed, sold and supported. And any CIO without an open-source strategy in 2003 will be paying too much for IT in 2004.

As with Fortune’s MySQL article yesterday, theres no real technical content, but I wouldn’t expect that from CIO Magazine anyway. However, the stories and numbers featured in this article build a strong impression that anyone looking at Linux isn’t blazing their own trail, but following a well established path. Useful stuff if you’re looking to sell the benefits of Linux systems to convince management.
